Web cable to be fixed ‘within week’

(CNN) — Repair ships are going to the site of two undersea cables which were damaged this week, snarling Internet and phone traffic across the Middle East and parts of Asia, the cables’ owner said Friday.

FLAG Telecom said a ship was en route to the first cable, which was cut off Alexandria, Egypt, on Wednesday. It said the ship would arrive by Tuesday and would complete its work within a week.
